SECURE THE BAG: MONEY MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS START-UP WORKSHOPS

This interactive and discussion-based online workshop series offers youth (15-30) the opportunity to better understand money management and to develop their skills for a sound financial future. In partnership with Catholic Crosscultural Services (CCS), Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), and Krokadero, we are offering 4 new workshops in the coming weeks.

Workshop 1: Business 101

MONDAY, OCTOBER 26TH, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

Thinking of starting a business? Weighing the pros and cons?

In this workshop, we will deliver an overview of starting a business and assessing true readiness. This session provides a look at the benefits of entrepreneurship and information on the factors to be considered when thinking of opening a business.

 

Workshop 2: Marketing Basics

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

Looking to promote your business? On a tight budget?

This workshop will provide information and resources to promote your business and connect with customers. Participants will learn how to build their business, target customers, and how to promote and market their business on a low budget.

 

Workshop 3: Top 5 Mistakes Start-Ups Make

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9TH, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

Started your own business? Looking to strengthen your business structure?

This is an intermediate workshop for entrepreneurs within the first 3 years of operation. You will develop a better understanding of how to identify the value of a developing a business plan and business structure. Participants will also get a better understanding of monitoring cash flow and learn how to make informed decisions regarding taxes.

 

Workshop 4: Start a Business From Home

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

Looking to learn what it takes to become an entrepreneur? Wanna launch that new business idea from home?

This workshop will introduce the 1-page business plan. A 1-page business plan is going to help you build out your business idea to determine if it’s worth pursuing. This is an interactive workshop where you will get to explore your business idea, share ideas with other entrepreneurs, and get feedback. No prior business experience or education is required!

KISS IT BETTER?: WELLBEING VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS

This interactive and discussion-based online workshop series offers youth (15-24) from the GTA the opportunity to better understand what care can look like and how to be well in a time like this. In partnership with Planned Parenthood Toronto (PPT), Black Coalition for Aids Prevention (Black CAP), and Supporting Our Youth (SOY), we are offering 4 new workshops in the coming weeks.

Workshop 1: Taking Care of Ourselves and Each Other

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

This workshop will explore themes of care and the practices that brings us closer to ourselves, relationships and communities. Join us as we map and imagine ways to build more self and community care into our lives.

 

Workshop 2: Intimacy & Relationships

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

We'll explore what closeness and connection look, taste, smell, sound and feel like in a time of a global pandemic.

 

Workshop 3: HIV Awareness

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2ND, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

Come hear other youth share their experiences!

 

Workshop 4: Communicating Boundaries as a Caring Act

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16TH, 2020 (4pm-5pm)

This workshop will talk about the joys and pains of communicating our boundaries and how we can approach this as an act of caring for self and others.

SLYE ONLINE LEADERSHIP TRAININGS

A FREE online training for youth aged 13-18, to build leadership skills and an opportunity to put those skills into practice!

This training will build your unique leadership capacity and introduce you to the leadership opportunities that SLYE has to offer. Upon completion of this training, participants will receive a gift card and volunteer hours.

This training will happen from 4PM-6PM on the platform Webex, and we will send each attendee the link to join the training the day before.

SLYE YOUTH COUNCIL

SLYE Youth Council consists of youth leaders (aged 13-18) from the Steeles-L'Amoreaux area in Scarborough who organize, lead, and support community initiatives!

 

During our virtual meetings, youth leaders volunteer hours and work experience. Youth also have the opportunity to build friendships with others in their community.
