SLYE ONLINE LEADERSHIP WORKSHOPS
A FREE online workshop for youth aged 12-18, to build leadership skills and keep youth connected. Each participant will receive a certificate, volunteer hours, and a gift card! This training will happen on the platform Webex, and we will send each attendee the link to join the training the day before.

If you have never taken a Leadership Workshop before, or would like to learn the basics about becoming a leader, please register for our BEGINNER workshop.

SECURE THE BAG: MONEY MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS START-UP WORKSHOPS
This interactive and discussion-based online workshop series offers youth (15-30) the opportunity to better understand money management and to develop their skills for a sound financial future. In partnership with TD Bank’s Money Matters Program, we are offering 4 workshops in the coming weeks.

MONDAY JULY 13, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
Tired of empty pockets? Struggling to make it to the next payday?
In this workshop, you will learn how to create and manage your budget with the help of a Spending Plan. A Spending Plan is key to ensuring you have enough money to meet your needs and goals. It will also help you find ways to save for the future.
MONDAY JULY 20, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
Should you open a savings or chequing account? Should payday loans be avoided?
In this workshop, you will learn about banks and banking, and the choices available to you. You’ll learn about personal bank accounts, and which type might best suit you and your money needs. You’ll learn about what a bank can do for you, and how it can save you money.
MONDAY JULY 27, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
How can you borrow money smartly to avoid debt? What’s credit?
In this workshop, you will learn about credit—what it is, how to use it wisely, and how to get it under control when your debt is too big to handle. You’ll take a look at different kinds of credit and the cost of borrowing. You’ll learn ways to avoid the costs piling up, so that if you need to borrow money, it is there for you.
MONDAY AUGUST 10, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
Looking to maximize your savings? Save for the future?
In this workshop, you will take a look at ways of making the money you save grow over time. You’ll learn about registered savings plans to help you get ready for your future.
SLYE YOUTH COUNCIL
SLYE Youth Council consists of youth leaders from Toronto who organize, lead, and support community initiatives!
During meetings, youth leaders receive dinner, TTC tickets, volunteer hours, and work experience. Youth also have the opportunity to build friendships with others in their community.
