SECURE THE BAG: MONEY MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS START-UP WORKSHOPS
This interactive and discussion-based online workshop series offers youth (15-30) the opportunity to better understand money management and to develop their skills for a sound financial future. In partnership with Charted Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), we are offering 3 new workshops in the coming weeks.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
Do you want to become a good money manager?
In this workshop, you will learn how to read and understand a pay stub and its relationship to a T4 slip, develop a basic understanding of credit lenders, credit scores, and credit reports, and gain a better understanding of income taxes.
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
Don't know how to file taxes? Want to know how to get a bigger tax refund?
In this workshop, you will learn the benefits of filing taxes, why and how to file your taxes, and what is non-taxable income. For those considering post-secondary education, you will learn about deductions, credits, and special rules for students.
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 28, 2020 (4pm-5pm)
Is your debt piling up? Want to learn practical ways to take control of finances?
In this workshop, you will learn about credit—what it is, how to use it wisely, and how to get it under control when your debt is too big to handle. You will understand the difference between good debt and bad debt, and the value of having a good credit rating.
SLYE YOUTH COUNCIL
SLYE Youth Council consists of youth leaders (aged 13-18) from the Steeles-L'Amoreaux area in Scarborough who organize, lead, and support community initiatives!
During our virtual meetings, youth leaders volunteer hours and work experience. Youth also have the opportunity to build friendships with others in their community.
SLYE ONLINE LEADERSHIP TRAININGS
A FREE online training for youth aged 13-18, to build leadership skills and an opportunity to put those skills into practice!
This training will build your unique leadership capacity and introduce you to the leadership opportunities that SLYE has to offer. Upon completion of this training, participants will receive a gift card and volunteer hours.
This training will happen from 4PM-6PM on the platform Webex, and we will send each attendee the link to join the training the day before.
